The Gift

"Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer..." manages to cover everything that has ever happened in the space of a few seconds - almost as if Buffy's life is flashing before her eyes. Buffy must square off against a true god when Glory prepares to use Dawn to break down the walls between the dimensions and unleash Hell on Earth. As the confrontation begins, Xander proposes to Anya, and Willow grabs a cure for Tara. Two Buffys manage to defeat Glory in the final battle, and Giles finishes the job by doing the dirty work that Buffy will not countenance. In the end, though, the portal between dimensions is opened and Buffy Anne Summers (1981-2001) must make the ultimate sacrifice to save her sister in a powerful and emotional conclusion to the season.
