In 2024 the UK will be one of the leaders in the world of startups and innovations. The UK economy is growing, making way for new startup companies by offering favourable terms. In fact, the UK is estimated to be the third ecosystem in the world, right after China and the US. Of course, London is the prime destination for new ventures, with over 19 billion euros in capital investments.

In 2023 the industries with the largest investments in the UK were:

Over 300 leading startups emerged in 2023 with over one billion euros in investments. So, it seems that in 2024 we will see an even bigger rise in British startups. They can vary from a simple roulette simulator by Roulette77 all the way up to advanced AI startups. Let's dive deeper into some of the most promising ones for 2024.

Robin AI

Robin AI is an innovative legal startup company, focusing on building a comprehensive AI legal assistant. The company has offices in London and New York and has recently opened up offices in Singapore. They raised $26 million, mostly funded by Temasek, with the company being funded in 2019 by Richard Robinson and James Clough.

As they state their goal is not to take away billable hours by major law firms. Their goal is to simply make their work easier and faster. The AI assistant is able to analyze massive amounts of legal documents and generate comprehensive reports in a matter of minutes. This takes down the massive workload which usually takes weeks to just a few hours. The assistant is already in use by hundreds of businesses, including Yum! And PepsiCo.

Get Harley

Get Harley was born from the personal hardships of its CEO Charmain Chow. In her life, she had a number of skin conditions from eczema to acne and finding the solution was not an easy task. She claims to have spent a lot of valuable time and funds to find the corresponding professionals and the right products. So she decides to launch Get Harley. This platform offers consults and clinic matches for over 150,000 members and over 1,500 professionals across the UK. In 2024 they raised $52 million primarily with Index Ventures at the forefront.

Field

Field is an energy startup, raising $152 million mainly from DIF Capital Partners. The startup focuses on storing energy in big batteries. This is done when the supply of energy is high across the grid. The stored energy is released when there's demand. The company was launched in 2021 by Amit Gudka and the next year they already had a fully functioning 20-megawatt facility in Oldham. Now the company has already expanded to Germany, Italy and Spain. They use lithium-ion cells with the main components imported from China, with some other components sourced from Europe.

PhysicsX

PhysicsX was founded by Tuluie and Jacomo Corbo, raising $32 million primarily by General Catalyst. The startup focuses on machine learning and enabling engineers from various industries to run massive simulations. This platform takes massive amounts of data and runs complex simulations in a matter of seconds. Their platform seems so promising that they are already working with a team from Formula One.

Volt

Volt was founded by Tom Greenwood, Steffen Vollert and Jordan Lawrence. The platform enables users to get direct payments to their accounts in real-time. The current payment system is based on the past century and many changes are needed. So they decided to run their own platform which is now accessible in 31 countries. The company has raised $60 million so far and seems to be on the road to a great future.

Newcleo

Newcleo is a startup promoting clean energy. Strangely enough, they are focused on building mini nuclear power plants which will be powered by nuclear waste. The company has raised $400 million and already has over 750 employees. The company is set to build a plant in the south of France, with a demo model currently being built in Italy. The first nuclear-powered prototypes will be in the 30-megawatt range.

Zally

Zally is a tech startup based in Manchester. The platform aims to revolutionize the current login systems across websites and mobile apps. Instead of utilizing traditional passwords, Zally aims to create an internet space without the need for passwords. They are focused on biometric data and the help of AI to come up with unique profiles for each user. The company has already raised 1.5 million euros since it was founded in 2022. They hope the number will rise to more as they keep developing their current platform.
