Season Seven
Lessons
Dawn enrols at the newly re-opened Sunnydale High School, but evil
spirits are soon found in the basement. Willow is recuperating in England
with Giles, and Xander is now a besuited construction project manager. Anya
is told off for being a soft vengeance demon. Buffy, anxious that nothing
otherworldly affects Dawn's first day back, investigates the school
basement, and discovers spirits at large, and a troubled and changed Spike.

Beneath You
Buffy starts her new counselling job at the school, but it's not a good
day for easy minds. Everyone is having premonitions of something
approaching, something deeply evil, and Anya's half-hearted vengeance
attempts are causing more problems. Buffy also has to check on Spike, who is
lodging in the basement. She manages to get him to tell his secret, but it's
a shock to her.

Same Time, Same Place
Willow's return to Sunnydale proves to be a tough challenge. Something
weird is going on because she can't see Buffy, Xander or Dawn, and they
can't see her. Spike can see them all, and talk to them all at the same
time, but he's mad anyway. Anya is grounded for cancelling a vengeance wish.
She can also see Willow, but isn't really in the mood to be much help.
Xander fears his witchy friend has gone bad again, and then there's the
whole thing with the demon who's planning to eat poor Willow...

Help
After a counselling session, Buffy suspects that a female student at the
school, Cassie Newton, is suicidal. It seems she has some kind of
premonition, and is wearily certain of her impending fate. So, while the
viewer suffers the agony of teenage angst - and lots of painful poetry -
Buffy tries to gather support and evidence to change events, even though
they are apparently unchangeable.

Selfless
Willow is returning to college and trying to fit back in. Anya has
problems of her own. After a particularly nasty and bloody vengeance wish,
she begins to recall her origins as the Scandinavian woman, Aud, complete
with extensive and amusing subtitles, and grainy and aging film stock. Buffy
decides that Anya has gone too far and it's time she died. Xander still
loves Anya and will fight to protect her from Buffy's apparently arbitrary
decision. A battle is inevitable, although Xander doesn't last long in his
protective role. One tough battle, a Slaying, and a song (don't ask) later,
and Anya is frail and human again.

Him
The girls fall under the spell of the school's star athlete. Spike is
given lodgings with a reluctant Xander to get him away from the school
basement, where he's been talking to people who aren't there. Anya is back
in the gang. Dawn is the first to spot Lance Brooks, in his school jacket,
and fall head-over-heels with him. But, as he adds Buffy, Anya and even
Willow to his love list, the fights start to break out.

Conversations With Dead People (Part 1 of 2)
The two nerds are back in town. Jonathon and Andrew are being led by
what is apparently the ghost of Warren Mears (although only Andrew can see
him). Willow is having a chat with dead high school student Cassie Newton,
who is apparently eager to pass on messages from Tara. Buffy is reminiscing
about her high school days with a newly risen vampire who was in her year,
and he goads her into revealing all of her recent insecurities. Dawn is
alone at home, fighting off a Poltergeist who is apparently holding her
deceased mother a prisoner. All of these "apparentlys" are the result of
"evil from beneath you" making an initial foray into Sunnydale. Spike, too,
is affected, when he is picked up in a bar by a beautiful single woman.

Sleeper (Part 2 of 2)
Following the mysterious disappearances of people in Sunnydale, Buffy
and the gang suspect that Spike might be back to his bad old self again.
This long night continues from the previous episode, with its repercussions
becoming clearer. Spike is under suspicion, especially by Xander, never his
biggest fan, but he's not entirely himself. The Big Bad is gaining power and
no one is safe, certainly not Giles, in England, where the Watchers are
under attack.

Never Leave Me
The First launches an attack on the Watchers' Council, wiping out it and
its vast repository of knowledge. Willow spots Andrew buying blood in the
butchers shop and immediately "captures" him, at least, as far as it is
possible to capture a wimpy nerd who's never going to put up any resistance
anyway. While Xander and Anya are interrogating Andrew at Buffy's house,
Spike is triggered into another attack - on Andrew, and while he's blubbing.
Buffy also discovers that the new headmaster at Sunnydale high school isn't
all he seems, but she's distracted from this when her house is attacked,
again, and Spike is used to raise something very old and powerful.

Bring On The Night
Giles turns up at Buffy's house with the few surviving potential Slayers
he could round up and an explanation - the First wants to end the line of
Slayers and Watchers. Buffy finds she cannot defeat the Ubervamp in a
straight fight and suffers a severe defeat, but she rallies her new army and
resolves to attach the First.

Showtime
Anya and Giles enter another dimension to work out the cause the the
First Evil's sudden reappearance in Sunnydale. Another potential Slayer
arrives at Buffy's to add to the growing numbers there. There are already
over half a dozen of them, and Buffy must show them all the the First can be
fought. The first step is to kill Ubervamp and rescue Spike. Easier said
than done, but Buffy is made of strong stuff, and Spike's deliverance is a
moving moment.

Potential
Buffy is busy training her new recruits and the others are busy setting
up the house as a kind of barracks. Dawn is feeling left out and
unappreciated, until Willow's spell to find other potential Slayers
apparently points to Dawn. Suddenly she is scared and excited by her new
responsibilities. While Buffy is occupied, Dawn meets up with Amanda, a
classmate who has trapped a vampire at school, much to her own disbelief.
The pair return to the school only to discover that Dawn isn't a Potential -
it's Amanda, and Dawn is left out again. At least Xander understands what
it's like to be the outsider.

The Killer In Me
Giles is taking most of the Potentials on a dreamquest trip into the
desert, much as he did with Buffy some years back. Kennedy is unwell so she
remains behind, although she's not unwell enough to avoid taking Willow on a
date. After Kennedy kisses Willow the latter is subjected to a dramatic
transformation. She suddenly looks like Warren Mears to everyone who sees
her, friend or foe. Unfortunately, there aren't many friends about, as
Xander and Anya suddenly have reason to assume that Giles is really the
First in disguise, and that he's about to murder the Potentials in his care.
Spike's chip is going haywire, but when he and Buffy break into the remains
of the underground military base, they find that Riley has sent a squad of
troops to aid, specifically, Buffy and "ass face".

First Date
Spike is chipless, and chipper because of it. Giles is explaining his
magnificent reflexes, and the First is trying to tempt Andrew with evil. It
wants him to kill the Potentials, but even Andrew baulks at murdering a
group of teenage girls in their beds. Buffy has a date with Principal Wood,
and Xander has a date with a tasty young filly he met in a hardware shop.
Anya is jealous. In typically dramatic fashion, Wood reveals that he is a
freelance vampire hunter whose Slayer mother was killed by a vampire when he
was four. Needless to say, the vampire in question is now reformed and part
of Buffy's army.

Get It Done
Buffy's place is now a fully-fledged Potentials training school, so
heaven knows what the neighbours think of it. On his first tour of the
place, Robin Wood is more interested in Spike, while one of the Potentials,
Chloe, buckles under the strain of knowing they are probably all going to
die, and commits suicide. Buffy berates the others for being weak and
searches for something positive to offer them. She uses Wood's Slayer
equipment to open a portal and embarks on a visit to the time of the first
Slayer. The men who created the Slayer line, by mixing demonic influences
with an ordinary, and unwilling young woman, show Buffy a vision of hell.

Storyteller
As the Seal of Danzalthar, otherwise known as the Hellmouth, continues
to cause chaos in Sunnydale High, Andrew films his fly-on-the-wall
documentary. Apart from revealing just how big a nerd he is, the filming
also covers Xander and Anya realising they still love each other, so they
have break-up sex. Buffy leads Andrew, camera and all, to the Hellmouth,
where she tries to seal it up.

Lies My Parents Told Me
Spike struggles with his memories as Wood is awaiting his moment of
revenge. Giles returns from England with a spot of magic. The "device" he
brought with him trawls through Spike's memories from shortly before he was
turned into a vampire and relates how his mother betrayed him. Willow gets a
call from Fred, Angel's team colleague in the city, and scoots. Wood's uses
the distraction to recruit Giles' help in trapping a disorientated Spike and
keeping Buffy out of the way while the vampire is finished off.

Dirty Girls (Part 1 of 5)
Faith reappears in town. It seems Willow has brought her safely from Los
Angeles where she is still being hunted by the police so that she could join
Buffy's army. Buffy, very upset with Giles for his betrayal regarding Spike,
gets a message from Caleb, the priest in charge of the Bringers. Buffy
decides on a frontal attack but Caleb is stronger than he first appears, and
Buffy's army suffers heavily, with two dead and Xander losing an eye. On the
up side, Faith settles well into her new role.

Empty Places (Part 2 of 5)
In the wake of their defeat at the vineyard, Xander is recovering in
hospital, as are some of the Potentials. Ordinary people are starting to
leave Sunnydale in droves, as the chaos worsens. As Buffy gets more and more
hard-line in her speeches and actions, so her control of the Potentials
starts to slip. Her followers now see her as reckless and lacking judgement.
In the end, while Spike and Andrew are away following up a lead on Caleb,
the potential Slayers voice their sense of failure by ganging up on Buffy
and electing a new leader. Buffy is driven out of her own home, with even
Dawn against her.

Touched (Part 3 of 5)
Spike discovers that Buffy has been ousted and goes in search of her.
Sunnydale is rapidly emptying as the general populace flee, so Spike is able
to find and comfort Buffy in an abandoned house. Faith and her team are
disorganised and far from being a team. Faith is busy seeking some comfort
from Wood, Kennedy from Willow, and Anya from Zander. Buffy, determined to
act, gets to the First's "arsenal" before Faith (and has suddenly developed
"The Matrix"-style powers of dodging enemy blows), and then Caleb gives away
a vital secret, seconds before the explosion...

End of Days (Part 4 of 5)
Buffy survives her battle with Caleb and manages to snatch the ancient
axe from under his nose. She is prevented from following up her success by
the force of the explosion from the sewers beneath. Faith's mission has been
a total failure, with many casualties, but Buffy saves the survivors with
the axe she acquired from Caleb. A period of calm follows while Buffy meets
the last of the secret guardians who made the axe. Caleb then kills the
guardian before Buffy attacks him in one final battle, aided by the sudden
appearance of Angel.

Chosen (Part 5 of 5)
Angel is back and just in the nick of time. Spike witnesses their joyous
reunion, but misses Buffy persuading Angel to set up a second front, just in
case she fails to stop the First. Spike's strange relationship with Buffy
still continues however, and after a chat with the First she begins to
believe she can win. The Slayer's army spends a pensive final night before
battle ensues. Buffy leads her team down through the Hellmouth to attack the
First's massive forces. Casualties are taken, Anya being the most notable,
and sacrifices are made. But Willow's magic makes fundamental changes to the
world which ensure the Slayer's army is now an army of Slayers, an army that
can win it's war as the nature of Slayers is changed forever...
